IHP - Implicit Heightfield Projection

IHP is a proprietary C++ material projection plugin for Unreal Engine 5.8 that creates view-dependent depth and displacement-style surface detail from heightmaps without requiring high-poly geometry.

IHP can be used as an alternative approach where Parallax Occlusion Mapping (POM), parallax mapping, bump offset, tessellation, Nanite displacement, or modeled surface detail might otherwise be considered. It does not replace Nanite or create real displaced geometry. Instead, it provides material-based heightfield projection for visual depth and surface detail.

Includes:

IHP Height Projection for Texture2D heightfields
IHP Height Projection RVT for Runtime Virtual Texture heightfields

Features:

Heightmap-based view-dependent depth
Low-poly mesh compatibility
Texture2D and RVT support
Reconstructed tangent-space normals
Optional self-shadowing and silhouette support
Runtime quality controls
Corrected UV output
Ready-to-use Material Function

Documentation (English): A complete user guide is included in the plugin at IHPHeightProjection/Docs/IHP_User_Guide.txt. Start with README.txt in the plugin folder. The guide covers installation, material setup, every Classic input and output, Runtime Virtual Texture setup, optional self-shadow and silhouette controls, modification, and troubleshooting. The example level is in IHPHeightProjection Content > IHP1 > Levels > L_IHP_Demo, and the reusable IHP_Standard material function is in IHP1 > MaterialFunc. No external SDK download or Engine-file modification is required.
